Shaw's!
I got next week's flyer in the mail today and I'm already organizing coupons for the "Spend $30, Get $15 off your next order" sale. WOOO HOOOO!! Happy New Year's to us Shaw's Lovers!
Proctor & Gamble!
I did officially hit my $50 towards my $120 coupon book! I'm actually sitting on about $70 in receipts and will probably get more before 2/1! Click here to see if you have been sitting on P&G receipts to get your coupon book!
CVS!
Total Before Savings: $16.94
Total Coupons Used: $3.50
Total ECBs Used: $6.99
Total Cash OOP: .35 cents
Total ECBs Earned: 0!
I took advantage of a couple deals at CVS this week. I completely forgot my Pantene and I need hair spray. Hopefully I can get back before the end of the week to pick up that!
1 Bounty 8 pk Basic Paper Towels - $5.88 ($1/1 MFC)
2 Dawn Dish Soaps - BOGO @ $1.49 ($1/2 MFC) - .25 cents ea!
2 CVS 10 count Tampons - BOGO 50% @ $1.99 ($1.50 CVS Feminine Hygiene Coupon)- .75 cents ea!
1 200 count Ornament hooks - 49 cents on clearance
Not too bad. Lost ECBs but sometimes you just got to do what you got to do! Still sitting on $14.55 ECBs on my card and $5 on the husband's card.
Walgreens!
I finally went into Walgreens last night to pick up my free 8X10 from last week - and what a deal! They had a ton of Christmas stuff at 75% off! Curling ribbon for .19 ea. Packages of 300+ Christmas stickers for .50 cents. Gift tags at .25 and .50 cents. The ribbon was great because they had a ton of colors so I can use that for birthday gifts this year too. Walgreens far surpasses CVS for great after Christmas sales in my book! They also had lots of lights and other junk you probably don't need - but at 75% off, why not!

Taxes!
If you're looking to maximize your return this year, now is the time to do some research on how to make the most of your deductions and credits!
If you have a mortgage, make your January payment this final week of December to have an extra month of interest to deduct on 2008's taxes. Remember though, you won't have this payment to write off on your 2009's taxes.
Even though I personally hate H&R Block, I think their website has a lot of useful information. If you do your own taxes, take the time to read up on deductions, credits and ways to maximize your refund! Click here for H&R Block's useful calculators, tools and articles.

CVS!
Total Before Savings: $36.01
Total Coupons Used: $2.49
Total ECBs Used: $21.96
Total Cash OOP: $1.64
Total ECBs Earned: $21.54
4 Listerines - $2.99 ea. ($11.96 ECBs)
1 Halls Natural - $2.59 ($2.59 ECBs)
1 Loreal Hip Eye Shawdow - $6.99 ($6.99 ECBs)
10 4X6 prints - $2.49 (10 Free Prints CVS coupon)
2 pkgs Band Aids - 99 cents ea.
Not too bad! I went in for the prints and figured I'd just roll my ECBs. My sons also need more Band Aids and they are on sale this week for 99 cents (reg. $3.29). A good price to stock up!
Pillsbury!
Get a "free" Pillsbury Dough Boy doll with 3 proofs of purchases and $2 for shipping & handling until 4/9/09! Click here for details!
Macy's!
I personally think Macy's is a bargain haven - if you can work your coupons with sales that is! This is one department store that is really pays to have their credit card (as long as you pay it off every month!).
Yesterday, I got a robe for my husband for Christmas and 2 Karen Scott Sweaters for myself.
Bathrobe - Orig. Price $75, Sale $26.25 (65% off!), After Coupon $18.25
1st Sweater - Orig. Price $44, Sale $12.99, After Coupon $8.99
2nd Sweater - Orig. Price $44, Sale $12.99, After Coupon $9.99
Sticker Price of items: $163
Sale Price of items: $52.23
$15 off a $50+ Purchase Coupon: $37.23
That's an overall savings of more than 77%! I don't think you could get these items cheaper at say T.J. Maxx or Marshall's. The family ventured out to the mall yesterday during the snow storm and it was pretty dead. Sure the snow was kind of bad, but it's the weekend before Christmas! It's also kind of scary how the new "norm" for sales seems to be 50%. My husband and I talk about this often. It used to be great to hit up 25% and 30% off sales - and the 50%+ marks were saved for events like the day after Thanksgiving and Clearance racks. Even the Land's End line at Sears is on sale for 40% off! It will be interesting to see if this trend continues or if it settles back down to "normalcy".

4 12 packs of Coke - $14.66 (4 $1/1 MFCs from MyCoke Rewards)
1 2 liter of Coke - $1.25 ($5 ECB WYB $15)
Bottle Deposit - $2.45
3 Lindt Chocolate Bars - $6 (1 BOGO MFC, $1/1 MFC)
1 500 mL Listerine - $2.99 ($2.99 ECB)
1 500 mL Listerine - $2.99 ($2.99 ECB)
1 20 ct Excedrin - $3.99 ($3.99 ECB)

2 Arm & Hammer Essentials - $5.98 (2 $1/1 MFCs) ($5.98 ECB)
2 Revlon Nail Polishes - BOGO @ $4.29 (2 $1/1 MFCs)
2 Hot Wheels - BOGO @ $1.49
2 Pkgs Wrigley's Gum - $1.19 ea (BOGO MFC)
1 Mentos Gum - $1.69 ($1/1 MFC)
Overall, pretty good day at CVS. I scored with a $4/$20 coupon. Since I'll get the $2.45 back from returning bottles at the grocery store, it's really like getting all this stuff for .51 cents! Plus, I have about $22 off my next CVS purchase. I about had a heart attack when the cashier asked the lady in front of me for her CVS card and the lady responded "Oh, I don't have one and don't need one." What!? Is she crazy? She must be!

BJ's!
This is more of a review than anything!
So BJ's diapers used to be so bad - like cardboard. We ran there yesterday (during a snow storm because I realized our diaper supply was LOW!). I picked up a box just because there is a coupon for $3 off (so it was $22 for 156 Size 4s) - but they must have changed their supplier because these diapers are pretty good! Not Costco (Kirkland), Pampers, or Huggies good, but a heck of a lot better than they used to be. They are kind of like Luvs. But for just over 14 cents a diaper, they will work!
Also, if you are potty training, we got a package of Pampers Easy Ups. 88 size 4s. Reg. price, $28.99, minus a $4 BJ's coupon and a $2 Pampers coupon. $22.99 or 26 cents an Easy Up.
Not great, but you can't expect to get practically free diapers all the time! Might as well get a good bargain the others. Also, the $28.99 for the Easy Ups counts toward's my P&G coupon promotion! I think my Pantene I purchased from CVS this week does too, but I need to find that receipt!

Shaw's!
Total Coupons Used: $14.30 (Should have been $15.60)
Total Cash OOP: $46.22 (Should have been $44.92)
Toilet Paper not pictured!
First, I went to a "trendier" Shaw's than my usual and I just wasn't happy. It was more crowded (but we are bracing for a snow storm here) and the register didn't double my coupons, and the cashier gave me attitude! If it wasn't for my 2 year old screaming, I would have gone to the service desk to get my whopping $1.30 back in the should have been doubled coupons. I think I'll bring my receipt back later on this week.
2.68 lbs of Grapes - $2.65
2lbs Baby Carrots - $2.99
1 Fresh Express Complete - $3.00 (.75 MFC that should have doubled)
2 Poptarts - $1.67 ea. ($1/2 MFC) - $1.17 ea!
4 Francesco Rinaldi Pasta Sauces - 4/$5
2 Nestle Chocolate Chips - $1.88 ea ($1/2 MFC) - $1.33 ea!
1 Pringles Mini - $2.50 ($1/1 MFC) - $1.50
2 boxes of Hanukkah Cookies to keep my kids busy - .75 cents ea.
2 Sargento Shredded Cheese - 2/$5 ($1/2 MFC) - $2 ea!
6 Philadelphia Cream Cheeses - BOGO @ $2.39 ea. (2 $1/3 MFCs) - .86 cents ea!
2 Hood Sour Creams - 2/$3 ($1/2 MFC) - $1 ea!
2 Heluva Good Cheeses - 2/$5 ($1/2 MFC) - $2 ea!
2 Heluva Good Dips - 2/$4 ($1/2 MFC) - $1.50 ea!
2 Gum Toothbrushes - $1 ea ( 2 $1/1 MFCs) - FREE!
2 Arnold Soft & Natural Breads - BOGO @ $3.29 ea (.55/1 MFC) - $1.37 ea. (Should have been $1.10 if coupon doubled).
1 Cottonelle 12 pk Toilet Paper - $5.99 ($1/1 MFC, $1/1 Store Coupon) - $3.99 pkg!
There are lots of great deals this week! Yeast, brownie mix, cake frosting, spices, etc. Make sure you print off your Shaw's Coupons at Shaws.com!
Roxie's!
There is a local meat market that sells stuff cheap! Check your area for one of these "hidden gems!" You'd be surprised how much you get for your money! If you live in or around Quincy, check out Roxie's on 3A!
4 pkgs. Purdue Buffalo Flavored Chicken Nuggets - .99 cents ea!
1 loaf of Scalli Bread - $1.99 (for our Irish Hanukkah dinner!)
1 Pork Roast - 2.24 lbs @ $1.99/lb = $4.46 (4 servings)
Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast Tenders - 3.85 lbs @ $1.69/lb = $6.45 (8 servings)
Ground Beef - 3.10 lbs @ $2.28/lb = $7.07 (6 servings)
Sirloin Steak - 1.01 lbs @ $5.79/lb = $5.85 (2 servings)
Boneless Pork Ribs - 3.52 lbs @ $1.88/lbs = $6.62 (4 servings)
Sandwich Steak - .47 lbs @ $4.63/lbs = $2.18 (1 servings)
Overall, this should provide at least 12.5 dinners for myself, the husband and possibly kids. The nuggets will provide at least 12 lunches for the both of them. The Scalli Bread just tastes good!
If you minus the Scalli Bread and Chicken Nuggets and figuring 25 dinners, the meat portion of the meals cost $1.27 per person (plus, a 2 and 1 year old will eat from that portion). It would have been much less if I didn't splurge on that steak for the husband!
Shaw's!
Total Coupons Used: $9.00
Total Cash OOP: $4.01
3 Boxes of Kellogg's Cereal - 3/$8 (3 $1/1 MFCs, $3 Off When you buy 3 Shaw's Coupon)
2 Betty Crocker Cookie Frostings - 2/$5 (2 $1/1 MFCs, $1/2 Shaw's Coupon)
Great deal! .66 cents per box of cereal and $1 for each cookie frosting!

Shaw's!
Total Coupons Used: $5.20
Total Cash OOP: $31.25
I went to Shaw's today, primarily for Rice Krispies and the Betty Crocker Cookie Frosting. They were out of both. I'll go back later on in the week to get them. I got some things that were noteworthy!
2 Fresh Express Salads - BOGO @ $3.49 ($1/2 Shaw's coupon) = $1.25 each!
8 lbs of potatoes - $2.49 = .31 cents a pound!
1 lbs Margarita Genoa Salami - $4.99 (.60/1 lbs DOUBLES) = $3.80!
2 Tropicana OJs - $2.48 ea ($1/2 Store Coupon) = $1.98 ea!
2 Nestle Chocolate Chips - 2/$5 ($1/2 MFC)
4 Goldfish - B2G2 Free @ $2.19 = $1.10 ea.
1 Kraft Shredded Cheese - $2.50 ($1/1 MFC)
Things I Needed/Impulse Buys
1 big Shaw's Oats - $2.89
Coffee Filters - $1.89
Shaw's Onion Soup Mix - .88 cents
Shaw's Sour Cream - $1
2 pkgs Shaw's Marshmallows - $1 ea
This was definitely not spectacular by any means. I worked the Shaw's circular more than coupons. There just wasn't much on sale that matched up to coupons I had (or things I would use). I had to get the sour cream and onion soup mix because we still have the potato chips from the BOGO sale last week and I've been craving dip. This is a good example how GENERIC brands are sometimes cheaper than name brands. For instance, Hood has a coupon out there for $1/2 Sour Creams - but at $2.49 at my store, even with the coupon, the generic was still cheaper. $1 for a medium sized container of sour cream is a steal!
CVS!
Total Coupons Used: $5.00
Total ECBs Used: $25.96
Total Cash OOP: $1.28
Total ECBs Earned: $14.00
2 Excedrin Express Gels - $5.49 ea (2 $1/1 CVS Coupons)
1 Excedrin Back and Body 100 ct - $10.29 ($10 ECB WYB $20 worth)
1 Colgate Total - $2.99 ($1/1 MFC) ($2 ECB)
1 Big Pantene - $5.99 ($2/1 MFC) ($2 ECB)
1 Chips Ahoy - $1.99 (to entertain my kids while shopping)
Overall, I "lost" almost $16 in ECB, but all that for $1.28 cash is good for me! We go through Excedrin like it's candy!
Still sitting on $30.98 ECBs on my card and the husband has $5 ECB's on his card.

CVS!
Oh I'm so dumb! The Lifesavers aren't even part of the $20 deal! I need to pay more attention to my CVS ads! I'll blame the stress of the holiday season! But I still got the pack of Gummy Lifesavers for .50 cents so that works. Got a pack of Twizzlers for $1.50 - so all in all, $1.52 for a bunch of candy and $10 ECB! I need to thank IheartCVS.com - I was browsing their site this morning and realized my mistake!
CVS!
I'm distraught because I did the Hershey's deal, but the $1.50 Lifesavers didn't count towards it. I'm going back today to either exchange it for a "normal" flavor or call the number. My cashier was a little clueless last night so the last thing I needed was to ask her about it.
1 bag of Bliss - $3 ($1/1 MFC)
2 Big Bags of Hershey's Miniatures - 2/$7
1 bag of Rolos - $2
1 bag of Special Dark Kisses - $2 ($1/1 MFC)
1 bag of Sour Gummy Lifesavers - $1.50 ($1/1 MFC)
1 bag of Reece's Mini Cups - $2
1 Chocolate Santa - .50
Total: $18.00 (purchased a bag of miniatures earlier in the week)
Total Coupons Used: $3
Total ECBs Used: $14.98
Cash OOP: .02 cents!
ECBs Earned: $10
I didn't actually get my $10 ECB yet, but I'm going this morning with the kids to straighten this matter out! My receipt says I'm at $18.50 towards my goal so I think it's just because I purchased a funky flavor of the Lifesavers. I have noticed in my CVSing, that not all the SKUs of certain products are entered in the ECBs promos.

CVS!
I scored big this week for CVS! My husband's email got 2 $5/$30 coupons this week! I thought it was the same email, but the coupon codes are different. So I used one tonight (we really needed diapers).
2 pkgs. Huggies Diapers - $10 ea. ($1.50/1 MFC, $1/1 MFC)
1 pkg Huggies Pull Ups - $10 ($2/1 MFC)
12 pk of Thomas' English Muffins - Reg. $4.99, Sale $1.99 (GREAT PRICE!)
Total Before Savings: $43.56
Total Coupons Used: $9.50
Total ECB Used: $17.45
Total Cash OOP: $5.04
Total ECB Earned: $5.00
Yeah, I know, I blew all my ECBs on the husband's card, but we needed diapers. I'll probably go back tomorrow to do the candy deal and maybe the Fusion deal.

Macy's!
So Macy's sent out this "20% off Friends and Family" purchase coupon a while ago that is good from the 10th to the 14th. I went today and if you just simply use your Macy's card on most things, you get the 20% anyways! It's just a scam to get you in the door!
I did have 2 $15 off $50 purchases - which for those of you who aren't math savvy, means 30% off if you stay close to $50. So I did that today. EVERYTHING is on a great sale so I got some things (can't mention what as some are gifts and whatnot) that would have been over $90 if you went by the ticket price but cost only $39. But honestly, who pays sticker price these days anyways? I feel like I got a super good deal though!

JC Penney!
My mother came to visit and kindly left me a $10 off any $10 or more purchase coupon from JC Penney's! Whoohooo! Looks like I'll be getting a new shirt for Christmas. So I was thinking "Why don't I ever get these wonderful coupons?" I mean if you think about it, it's pretty much like $10 in free cash since the minimum purchase is the coupon value! So I just signed up at JCP Rewards. You can too to see if you get these wonderful coupons in the mail. Just click here.

Shaw's!
Total Coupons Used: $28.60
Cash OOP: $34.59
Total Savings: $61.46
I did Shaw's today because we really needed bottled water. The husband needs it for work as he's the blue collar type and doesn't have a water fountain at his disposal when he's 200 feet above the ground. I also needed bread crumbs and thankfully there was a good deal on them this week.
3 cases of Shaw's bottled water - 3/$10 ($1/3 Store Coupon)
2 Pepsi One 12 packs - $3 ea (2 $1/1 MFCs)
3 boxes of Chex - 3/$7 ($1/2 MFC)
4 2 Liters of Coke - 4/$5 (4 Free WYB 3 Chex's Store Coupon)
6 Oranges - 4/$1
1 Fresh Express Salad - $2 (.55/1 MFC DOUBLES)
1 pkg of Sausage - $6.04 ($2/1 Peelie)
2 Progresso Bread Crumbs - $1 ea ($1/2 MFC)
1 Keebler Cookies (the son threw it in the cart unknowningly) - $1.88
2 Lay's Potato Chips - BOGO @ $3.99 ($1/2 Store Coupon)
1 Jose Ole Taquitos - $4.99 ($1/1 MFC)
1 box of Candy Canes - $1
Betty Crocker Deal
3 Betty Crocker Gingerbread Cookie Mix - $1.67 ea (3 .75/1 MFC DOUBLES) - .17 ea!
1 Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix - $1.50 ea (1 .75/1 MFC DOUBLES) - $0!
1 Betty Crocker Frosting - $1.25 (.50/1 MFC DOUBLES) - .25!
1 Bisquick - $2.79 (.75/1 MFC DOUBLES) - $1.29
$2/$10 Purchase of Betty Crocker - so all of these items were .05 cents! If you want to MAKE money on this scenario, buy all Sugar Cookie Mixes, and you'll be getting those six items AND .46 cents BACK! You can print coupons for all of these items at Coupons.com and BettyCrocker.com.

Kmart!
I went there for packing tape and baggies. I got some other stuff too.
2 Ziploc Sandwich Bags - 2 for $5 ($1/2 MFC DOUBLES) = 2 for $3
Scotch Packing Tape - $3.49 ($1/1 MFC DOUBLES) = $1.49
Reynold's Oven Bags - $2.49 ($1/1 MFC DOUBLES) = .49 cents
Pledge Multi-Surface - $3.50 ($1.50/1 MFC DOUBLES) = .50 cents
Lysol Wipes - $2.67 ($1/1 MFC DOUBLES) = .67 cents
Before Coupons: $18.10
After Coupons: $6.66
If you can put up with your local K-Mart, it's a steal.
Shaw's!
This isn't a great steal by any means, but a good deal for coffee!
4 Folger's 39 oz cans - $23.96 ($1/2 MFC)
3.95 lbs bananas - $2.73
Total OOP: $25.69
When I went through, my catalina coupons didn't print because the coupon printer was out of paper. So I went to the Service Desk. They gave me $5 cash for the Red Box DVD coupon and $5 OYNO coupons for the $5 coupon.
All in all, 4 cans of coffee for $12.96. $3.24 each which is great.

Nothing this Week!
I'm sad to report that I'm laying low this week. No CVSing (there isn't anything good - unless you need some Maalox or GasX). I guess the Dawn dish soap is a good deal. But honestly, nothing is too exciting for me to go waste ECBs with.
Shaw's too is no killer week. I'm probably going to head over there to do the P&G deal because we desperately need coffee. When I open my last big can (I've been known to have at most 8 cans of coffee in the house!), I feel like I am in possible caffeine withdrawal mode.
The deal at Shaw's this week is if you spend $20 on P&G items, you get $5 off your next order and 5 free RedBox DVD rentals. The Folgers coffee is $5.99 but I have to scope out my bargain websites to see if it's the pre-sale price or sale price that counts toward the $20. If it's pre-sale (which I hope it is!), I should be able to score 3 big cans of Folgers for $17.97, minus a $1 MFC and take away a $5 OYNP coupon and 5 Free DVD rentals. Good enough for me!
