Really Cheap Price for $50 at Thirty-One

Like handbags?  Check out Thirty-One.  The latest trend in handbags!

Anyways - Plum District Boston has a deal today - $25 for $50 worth of merchandise at Thirty-Three.  So how is this a spectacular deal?  Here:

1.  Use THIS REFERRAL LINK.  It will get you $5 off your first purchase at Plum District when you join through it.  If you already joined through my referral link, but haven't bought anything - that $5 should be there waiting for you.

2.  Use code INWITHNEW to score 20% off your orders this week at Plum District.

So I think it would $16 for you.  $25 - $5 referral promo = $20 * 80% (what you pay with the 20% code) = $16.

The only fine print that is different - is that you have to phone in your order.  You can't redeem online.  It's like a flashback to shopping in 1987.  The catalog is viewable online.  So I guess it's not completely 1987.

So yes ladies - you can show up to the first day of school all classy and sophisticated looking (unlike me - who usually looks like I got stuck in a wind storm most school drop off days) for very cheap.

Shaw's Deals 7/29-8/4

Looking through the Shaw's flyer for this upcoming week, I noticed I few things that match up to newspaper coupons.  Here they are:

General Grocery

WhoNu Cookies - $2.50 ($1/1 MFC from paper)

Get 1 pint of Blueberries for free when you buy 2 Ocean Spray Blueberry Juices - I'm not sure if these are on sale again this week, but they were 2/$5 last week - and there were $1/1 MFCs in the paper.

Swiss Iced Tea (half gallon) - $1.00 (.75/1 MFC in paper - which DOUBLES - making this a .50 cent money maker! - and yes, the coupon says "gallon or half gallon" - so it's not coupon fraud)

Bush's Baked Beans - $1.39 ($1/2 MFC from paper)

V-8 - I'm not sure if their Fusion juices are included - but there was a $1/1 MFC from the paper out there.  If they are included -that $2.50 sale price becomes $1.50.

Lipton Onion Soup Mix - $1.50 ($1/2 MFC from paper - I'm pretty sure this expires on 7/31 though - so you have to get there this weekend).  Make these $1 a box.

Front Page CAT:  Buy 2, Save $5 off your next purchase (I'm pretty sure there are MFCs out there from P&G - but they expire 7/31):
Bounty 8 Giant! Rolls
Charmin 18 Double Roll
Tide 100 oz
Tide Stain Release
Pampers Jumbo Diapers

Luigi's Italian Ice & Blue Bunny novelties - BOGO (There's a .50/1 Luigi's coupon from the paper - which DOUBLES.  There was also a .75/1 MFC for Blue Bunny in All You - I forgot what issue - that would DOUBLE to $1.50 off one.  You're talking a great deal on frozen treats for you or your little wee ones.)

Wise Chips - BOGO (these were $2.99 at my Shaw's) - I did have $.75/2 MFCs from a Wise email - which DOUBLES.  If you have that - it would be .75 cents a bag.

All detergent - BOGO.  I'm pretty sure there are MFCs from the paper out on this one.  There always seems to be All coupons.

So why is this one a good one:

-Enjoy free coffee or tea in our restaurant every time you visit.

-Take advantage of dozens of product discounts.

-Get a $100 IKEA Gift Card sweepstakes entry when you scan your card in the store.

Sunday's CVS Trip

So I managed to get my butt in gear to start CVSing again.  I used to be kind of good at it.  I really have no excuse to NOT CVS - I have 4 of them within 3 miles of my house.  I should be able to get my butt there at least once a week to ECB it up.  I kind of stopped because my "stockpilie" was overwhelming - I say "stockpile" loosely because I really don't have a stockpile.  I just bombard my bathroom cabinets and small cabinet in my attic with things.  I can't deal with too much - but I like to have a couple extras of everything.

I was SUPER psyched when I scanned my CVS card today.  I got a CVS $1/1 Irish Spring Deodorant - that was on my list AND I had a $1/1 MFC already.  Then I got a $2 off any haircare purchase - which was a score because the Aussie stuff is 2/$4.97 - and there was just a $3/2 MFC - so I made .03 cents off 2 Aussie products.  Well here is what I ended up with:

Total Before Sales/Coupons:  $57.02
Total Coupons Used:  $16.00
Total CVS Savings:  $17.88
Cash OOP:  $23.14
ECBs Earned:  $15.00

Schick Deal (Spend $20, Get $10 ECBs)

1 Schick Hydro 5 Razor - $7.99 ($4/1 MFC from paper - expired today) $3.99
1 Schick Hydro 5 Refills - $7.99 ($2/1 MFC from paper - expired today) $5.99
1 Edge Shave Gel - $2.19 ($1/1 MFC from paper) $1.19
1 Skintimate Gel - $2.19 ($1/1 MFC from paper) $1.19

Spent $12.36, but earned $10 off my next purchase - Net:  $2.36

Irish Spring Deal (Buy 3, get $3 ECB)

2 Irish Spring bar soap - $2.79 ea ($1/2 MFC from paper) $2.29 each
1 Irish Spring Deodorant - $3.50 ($1/1 MFC from paper, $1/1 CVS Coupon from machine) $1.50

Spent $6.08, but earned $3 off my next purchase (and my husband will smell like a leprechaun).  Net:  $3.08

Kotex Tampons - $3.49, Used $1/1 MFC from paper - $2.49, but earned $2 ECBs.

FREE Aussie Products!

Most products were 2 for $4.97

1 Aussie Shampoo
1 Aussie Mousse

Used $3/2 MFC from paper (but it was worded weird - like save $3 on any Aussie styling product when you buy any other Aussie or Herbal Essence product - just say $3/2 you weirdo marketing people).

Used $2 off any Shampoo, Conditioner, Styling product CVS coupon that printed at machine.

MADE .03 cents off this purchase.

$10 for a Hardcover Photobook from Shutterfly

Like those hardcover photo books? Who doesn't?!

Head on over to Plum District today to get one for just $10 from Shutterfly. Valid for new customers only. This expires on 9/7/2011. Shipping isn't included. Valid for 20 pages. Each additional page is a $1. I think that's all the important fine print.

Wait!  There's more use code funfun to get 10% off - so that $10 book becomes $9.  (The code funfun will work on purchases today and tomorrow).

Want to save an extra $5 - USE THIS REFERRAL LINK and get $5 off your first purchase!  If you just go to the website to sign up, you won't get the $5 credit.

In other Plum District related news, the 200th "liker" on Plum District Boston will get a $25 gift card to Whole Foods.  They're at 188 - so it's going to happen soon...

Oh and for those interested - Plum District Boston is featuring a deal for Sittingaround.com - a website designed to help you manage your baby sitting coop.  It's only $10 for 2 years (reg. $30).  Don't have a babysitting coop?  Start one!  You've probably heard of them.  Suzy watches Lynette's kid, Lynette watches Bree's kid, Bree watches Suzy's kid, etc. etc.  This online tool assigns points to people as they do the babysitting - and then takes them away when people watch their kids.  It's sort of a full-proof way that no one gets gypped in their coop.  So for $10 - roughly what?  An hour worth of cheap labor of babysitting?  You can get access to this great online tool for 2 whole years to better manage - or start up - your own Babysitting coop - and never have to pay a sitter again. (You can buy/use this online babysitting coop tool from anywhere in the country - it's just featured on the Boston site).

That is all.

Testing Chicken - Thanks Zaycon Foods!

This great company out of WA state contacted me a while ago to test some chicken for them.  Chicken?  Yes!  Chicken!  What person doesn't like chicken?  Let me give you a little background about this company:  Zaycon Foods.

Zaycon Foods was founded in 2009 to bring fresh meats and other products direct to consumers at wholesale prices. The founders have extensive experience in sales, business management and the grocery industry

So what does this mean?  I'll give you the basics:  You order bulk food from Zaycon.  Zaycon has events set up in different towns and cities - so when you place your order, you'll have to go to your event to pick it up.  Say you live in Hingham.  You place an order - and next month, they might be having their event at a parking lot somewhere in Hingham on the second Saturday of the month from say 9am-12pm and you go there to pick up your pre-paid order.  Kind of like a CSA.  Only - you're dealing in bulk - and mostly meat:  chicken, beef, turkey, pork and fish.  Different areas offer different products.

Right now, Zaycon has events in WA, OR, ID, AZ, & TX.  They have 17 more states slated for testing in 2011 and the future.

You might be saying, "But Becky - you live in MA!  Why are you telling me all of this?"  Well Zaycon just delivered 40 lbs of fresh, boneless, skinless chicken breast for me to test out on Friday.  40 lbs is the quantity of boneless, skinless chicken breast they sell.  Currently, this box of chicken goes for about $65 - or about $1.59/lbs.  GREAT DEAL!  Remember though:  Prices fluctuate and these prices are no way a guarantee of anything - things change, markets change, chickens go on strike - so you never know what the actual price may be.  I'm just giving you a current price point so you can see the value in a service like this.  The chicken is not deemed "organic" - but it is 100% natural chicken with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients

I tried the chicken for the first time last night - and it was fabulous!  I cooked my portion on my trusty George Foreman Grill and I was not disappointed at all.  The chicken was moist and tender.  Absolutely divine!  I'm not just saying that.  It really was good.

Zaycon is thinking of testing the Boston area market this fall with this unique service.  So that is why I am telling you this.  Would you be interested in a service like this in the Boston area?

If you were to purchase something like this - you would have to set aside about an hour after you get the chicken for prep.  And have a lot of ziploc baggies on hand!  I personally made up about 25 1-lbs packages and 3 5-lbs "party" packages with my chicken.  I always weigh my meat into portions before freezing - whether I buy it at the grocery store or some other outlet so this was pretty easy for me.  I just never dealt with 40 lbs before.  I think the most I ever did was 10 lbs of meat.

Check out the Zaycon website for more information!  I'll also inform you later on in the fall when they will be testing out the Boston market and all the info you might need to place an order.  Oh and psst....I MAY be doing a Chicken Giveaway in the fall with this information - so keep your eyes peeled!
So once again - I would love to hear your comments about this type of service!  Or if you are a person who has actually used the Zaycon service in another part of the country and would like to share your comments and experience, I'd love to hear them as well!

Plum District: $10 for $20 worth of Magazines at DiscountMags.com

Plum District has an Everywhere Deal that is pretty good - for $10, you get $20 worth of magazine subscriptions

The deal is through DiscountMags.com.  What I like about this is that there are NO automatic renewals at this website.  What you pay for is what you get - and you won't get charged the full price after the year's committment on some auto-renew plan.

So what kind of deals are there?

Weight Watchers Magazine - $11.99.  1 year, 6 issues.
Shape - $12.00. 1 year, 12 issues.
Self - $9.99. 1 year, 12 issues.
Family Circle - $11.97.  1 year, 15 issues.

So you could pretty much get 2 1-year subscriptions for just over $20 (or about $12-$14 out of pocket for you) or you could even just get a 2 year subscription to your favorite magazine for about the same amount.

You can see the whole list of available subscriptions HERE

There is still over 2 days left for you to snag this deal.  CLICK HERE to check it out for yourself.

Johnny Rockets Braintree - Kids Eat Free (?)

Reader, Lynne from Weymouth, is reporting that you can score free kids meals at Johnny Rockets at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree.  When?  Mondays-Thursdays from 4pm-9pm.  You only get a free kids meal with the purchase of an adult meal.

I have no idea about dates this is valid until and cannot find anything out about it with Google searches.  If you know anything about this promo, feel free to comment and I will edit accordingly!

Thanks Lynne!

Old Navy - 75% off sale!

Old Navy is having a kicker of a sale!  Many items are 75% off.  Bathing suits are 60% off.  Mens flip flops were $1.60.  I checked them out the other night at the Hingham location.  It looks like they are trying to wipe out all things summer to make room for the back-to-school stuff.

Also, tomorrow morning (July 9th) they are doing some "Mega Deal Bag" deal.  For $20, you score a mystery bag that has items worth $100-$120 in it.  There is also a chance to win $50 and even a $1,000 gift card in these mystery bags!  I never heard of this before so I'm not sure what exactly is in these mystery bags.  I would totally try it out but I won't be around an Old Navy tomorrow morning.

The 99 - Free Kids Meals With Curbside To Go!

Just sharing a tidbit!  The husband, kids and I were out at a pool yesterday afternoon/evening.  By 6, we were starving and I had zero desire to make dinner (like most nights).  So we were going to go to The 99 since the Red Sox won the previous day (Free kid meals - yey!).  But our kids were pretty much beat - and would be horrible if we made them sit down at a restaurant.

So with a simple phone call, we learned that you can score your free kid meals with their To-Go service!  So the husband got his hamburger, I got a salad - and we got 2 kids meals - all for only $20!

Just passing on this info in case anyone was interested.  This may already be common knowledge - but I didn't know it! This may be dangerous to my health this summer!

FREE SUMMER EVENT: Bookworm Wednesdays at National Amusements!

Every Wednesday from July 6 - August 10, National Amusements has free movies for kids who complete a book report.  I have no idea if parents get in for free - I read the fine print - but couldn't see anything.

National Amusements has locations in Dedham, Randolph, Lowell, Lawrence, Attleboro, Foxboro, Worcester, Woburn, Revere, & Millbury.  For a complete list of participating theaters - including those in CT, RI, NY & OHIO - CLICK HERE

I guess all the book reports get put into a drawing and the grand prize is a movie pack filled with tickets (8 to be exact) - with 26 grand prizes - one at each theater.

The first one starts tomorrow - so get cracking at reading some books and filling out the report!  For more information, CLICK HERE.  Thanks National Amusements!

Coinstar - Shaw's Gift Cards now there!

So I've wrote about Coinstar before.  I love it - because if you turn in your change, and opt for one of their partners' gift cards, you don't get charged a fee.  I think it's 7% if you opt for cash.

Anyways - just passing on the news that you can now redeem your change for a Shaw's gift card!

They added 9 new grocery stores to their list of merchants - but the only one that we up here in Massachusetts can really benefit from is Shaw's.  The other stores are, Albertson's, Shop & Save, Acme, Lucky, Jewel-Osco, Farm Fresh, Shoppers, & Hornbacher's.

So go and turn that change jar by your washing machine into this week's grocery money!
