"Money Maker" Reminder - Gym Membership Health Insurance Rebate

If you live in Massachusetts, you have to have health insurance.  If you have a normal to good company/plan, a lot of them give you a rebate for gyms and/or Weight Watchers.  I'm not a member of Weight Watchers but I am of a gym.

So today I mailed in an easy rebate form with a sheet I asked my gym for - and in 4-6 weeks I should get a check for $150!  Thanks Blue Cross Blue Shield!  Our cut off to submit our "health and wellness" refunds is March 1st.

Check your plan (call them if you have no idea how to check your benefits).  Ask your gym.  I think Weight Watchers has an online form you can print off with your spending from the previous year on eTools.  That was the easiest $150 I ever made!

Good Bye Cashbaq!

My favorite rebate site, Cashbaq.com is closed!  What!!?  I'm very disappointed.  I had about $20 in unpaid rebates that I probably won't see - especially sucky if you used it for your holiday shopping (my last payment from them was the end of October).

Guess I should hop on the Ebates wagon like everyone else....

Hope you weren't affected too bad by this!  Many thanks to Kara at Itty Bitty Bistro for taking time out of her busy cooking schedule to let me know!

Have You Made Money On Rebate Sites?

So - by now, most everyone should know about rebate sites.  I personally use Cashbaq.  I like it.  Ebates is another popular one and there are others out there as well.

First off, I don't do much internet shopping.  It sounds like a nice addiction though.  Anyways, I joined Cashbaq in the beginning of 2009.  So I've been a member for a year and a half.  In that year and a half, I have "earned" $101.90 by shopping through them.  I actually recently discovered "ShopDiscover" through my Discover card.  I actually earned over $32 in Discover Rewards by booking a trip we took recently by going through ShopDiscover to Orbitz.  Sure, it took an extra 17 seconds of my life, but hey - I made $32 by doing so!

So my question is - how much money have you earned by shopping through rebate sites?  Do you think it's worth the time/aggravation to do so?

BJ's Rebate Received?

Hey!  Thanks to a comment, I realized I never got my BJ's/Unilver rebate back in the mail (see original post HERE).

I know for a fact I mailed mine in the early 20s of February - and it said it could take up to 8 weeks.  So it's been 9 weeks for me.  Just checking to see if anyone who participated in this rebate actually got their $40 gift card in the mail yet.  Or if you participated and DIDN'T get your card, I'd love to hear from you too!

Thanks for the comment anonymous reader!

Unilever/BJ's Rebate!

From 1/26/10-2/28/10, BJ's is having a pretty good rebate.  Buy $100 worth of participating products (see below), and get a $40 BJ's gift card with mail-in-rebate.  That's kind of like 40% off if you stay close to $100!  These items do not all have to be on one receipt.  It's pre-coupon amount that counts, so if you have MFCs or BJ's coupons for these products, it makes the deal even better.

Participating products:

Pond's Cream
Lipton Recipe Secrets
Lipton Noodle Soup
Axe Deodorant
Axe Hair products and shower gel
Dove Hair products
Dove Bar
Dove Body Wash
Dove Deodorant
Degree
Caress Bars
Q-Tips
Vaseline Products
Suave Professionals and Kids
Ragu
Wish-Bone Dressing
Country Crock Spreads
Country Crock Side Dishes
I can't Believe It's Not Butter
Hellmann's Mayo
Slim-Fast products
Skippy Peanut Butter
Lipton Tea
Knorr Sides
Breyers Ice Cream
Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream
Klondike Bars
Popsicles
All detergent
Wisk detergent
Snuggle products
& virtually the entire Solo Cup line (paper/foam plates, bowls and cups)

The rebate form is in the February Coupon book that was just mailed out.  If you don't get the coupon book, you can just put your name, address, city, state, ZIP, and daytime telephone number on a 3X5 index card.

Mail form (or index card) with receipt(s) (be sure to circle the qualifying items and make sure you have $100 worth of product on them) to:

Unilever/BJ's Gift Card Offer
P.O. Box 7485
Wilton, CT  06897-7485

All requests must be received by 3/15/10.  Allow 8-10 weeks to receive your gift card!  Limit one offer per envelope, but you can do up to 2 rebates per household.  This is a GREAT deal if you are a person who stocks up on disposable plates/cups for parties or whatnot.  Also take note, this rebate is for individual consumers and requests from groups, clubs or organizations will not be honored.

Reminder - Turn in your old Refridgerator to get $50!

Do you have an old freezer or refridgerator in the basement that you really don't need?  Is it sucking unneeded energy from you?

Call National Grid from now until 11/30/09 to schedule a pick up of it!  They'll give you $50 - and you'll save money on your energy bill (don't do this if you actually USE your second freezer or refridgerator!!).  This is mostly for people who have older versions sitting in their garage or basement.  I know that it has to be 10 cu. ft to 30 cu. ft.  Our second freezer is only 6 cu. feet - so we don't qualify!  Boohoo!

Check out their website at http://www.coolturnin.com/ or call them at 1-877-545-4113 to schedule a FREE pick up and a $50 rebate!  After November 30th, they'll give you $30.
