Roche Bros. Delivery: Good Times!

So I had a Living Social Deal where I spent $25 to get $50 worth of groceries delivered from Roche Bros. It was getting ready to expire here soon so I figured I'd use it up.  Since Rochey's was having their "5 for $25" meat sale this week - I did what any rational person who loves meat does.  I bought 10 packages.  That put me right at $50.

So I got all that meat up there, plus another 2 lbs. pork roast that was already in the crockpot.  Since it was my first time ordering from Roche Bros, they threw in a free "Mile High Apple Pie" for me.  That's an $11 pie people!

So how did I fare with the "bargain" sense?  :

All my stuff had a pre-sale price of $90.98.

I had to pay a $9.95 delivery fee and I tipped the guy $5.  Not sure if that wasn't enough.  Am I cheap?

So I spent $25 on the Living Social Deal, plus the fee and deliver for $39.95 out of pocket.  A savings of $50.03 (a 56% savings).

The driver was really nice and explained some things about the delivery program to me.  He gave me a ton of coupons and it looks like with the coupon codes, you can score free delivery almost once every month.

Also, every time you order, they give you an envelope with your receipt and any substitutions they might have had to do (when you order, you check a box stating that you want substitutions or not).  If you have coupons, you put them in that envelope and the Roche Bros. people will enter them when they get back to the store.  The coupons actually give you a credit to your account for the next time you order delivery service.  So that's just something to keep in mind.

I'm still a little skeptical of grocery delivery services.  I don't know - I just feel like I'm getting a great deal.  And lazy.  I feel very, very lazy.
