Food Snobbery. Even I am Guilty!

I have to say - on the surface, I don't really think of myself as a "food snob". I'll eat anything. I really am not into dieting or eating healthy - I'll just eat whatever. I don't think we're all up here eating junk all the time (but a lot of the time). But if I can get a good price on certain things at the grocery store, I'll buy it. Whenever we go to anyone's house - I typically like whatever is made. I'm not picky at restaurants. So I think I'm kind of mellow when it comes to food consumption.

As I was scanning the ads this week, I saw split chicken breast on sale for .99/lbs. Then it dawned on me - I AM A FOOD SNOB! Why? I cannot buy or cook meat on the bone. I think it's disgusting. Now granted, I'll eat buffalo wings from my local pizza joint all day long if given a chance, but handling or actually cooking meat with bones grosses me out like no tomorrow!

So are you guilty of any "food snobbery"? Sure - some people might just say we have certain tastes for different things - but I like to call my hatred of meat on the bone (especially chicken) "food snobbery."

i don't like the split chicken breasts either. i bought them (never having bought them before) thinking that they were more similar to chicken breasts- without bones. and when i cooked them (a few times) the trillions of bones on the back were so soft they just all kind of disappeared into the chicken & we had to do a lot of searching for them, spitting them out, etc. i agree on that! we do love legs though. i don't mind one big bone but all those million of little ones, no way.

other than that I am not too bad a food snob i think. the main thing i don't like is seafood...but that is about it.

I take the food snob thing to the next level, I will not touch, cook or eat anything on a bone! Grosses me out. Too much of a reminder that you are eating a carcass. Yuck!

Eden - just your post talking about the bones is making me all squirmy! Ugh!

Patty - you are my husband! He is so grossed out by bones it's funny. I think the only thing in the world that has grossed him out more than meat on bones is watching me give birth.

I won't buy regular eggs, I have to have cage free. I also have to buy organic milk and yogurt. But I will eat almost anything! I definately like some junk food on a daily basis : )

I love cooking whole chickens and don't mind bones.

Bones don't bother me. In fact when I was pregnant boneless chicken breasts would make me gag. Thin cutlets were okay but not the thick breasts.

I am definitely a snob when it comes to chocolate. All that cheap stuff that comes out at Easter is disgusting.

Becky, I'm opposite we all love chicken on the bone, and really don't like boneless! I guess that's why they have both.
