January 2010 Recap

So the first month of the New Year is coming to a close.  At the beginning of the year, I made some crazy goal to lose some weight this year (mostly just to teach myself to eat healthier), while maintaining a normal grocery budget of $5,000 this year.  So how did I do?

First, I average in my head $416 per month for my goal of grocery spending.  If I spend $416 a month, that will be about $5000 for the year (okay, - $4992 to be exact, but I don't like dealing with fractions and decimals and all that other nonsense).  For January 2010, I spent $326 ($90 under budget).  This is outstanding because I bought 2 cases of diapers (just under $50) and kitty litter ($10.49).

I also have lost 7.2 lbs in January by following Weight Watchers rather religiously.  My entire goal for weight loss is somewhere between 20-25 lbs.  I don't expect my weight loss to be this much from here on out - but that's cool.  Slow and steady wins the race.  Overall, I'm extremely happy with how January 2010 turned out in this goal of mine.

How's every else doing?  Did you set any goals for 2010?  My Weight Watchers leader today said that week 5 of goal setting is when people tend to lose motivation.  I'm not sure if she meant WWs or in goals in general.  I feel like I have gained motivation the last week.  I feel like some obnoxious, perky cheerleader who is all gung-ho about life.  I'm not sure what is wrong with me.

Light!? Ha ha! Still gots some junk in the trunk over here - got to keep a little. Men dig that stuff.

Best part of WW so far is I never feel hungry. I've just sort of shifted my eating from crap to healthy stuff. And so far (knock on wood) - I've hit good enough sales to make it work.
