The Food Pantry Donation Was Made!

I was happy to get a call from my food pantry yesterday morning saying that Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best times to bring by donations these days.  I went this morning and was surprised at the happeningness of it all!  They actually do distributions on Tuesdays and Thursdays - but I just walked on in and someone helped me right away.  When they saw my trunk load full of groceries, they thought I collected it from a bunch of people.  I told her I just used a lot of coupons to score it all really cheap.  They also referred to it as a "big donation" - even though I didn't think it was that big.  The two people I talked to who volunteered there really seemed very greatful for the donation.  They also said cereal is one of the best donations they can receive.  It was kind of humorous hearing them say "So this was really just you going out shopping?"  It's almost like they didn't believe me.

So what shall people take from this?

a.  You can do a good deed without spending a lot of money.  Actions can do just as much good than writing a check.

b.  If you ever hear anyone say "coupons are a waste of time" - give them the link to my blog!

c.  Hopefully my scenarios taught at least one person how you can score really cheap groceries during catalina sales - for your own family.

You inspired me to go on my own Food Pantry Spree at Shaws last week. $195 dollars worth of food donated for about $30oop, including 16 boxes of cereal! Giving is contagious!

That's really great! Glad I could inspire...no better time to help others than around the holidays!

Giving is contagious - and you don't need a lot of money to do it! (Just a handful of coupons and a little coupon knowledge!) ;)

Great job Becky!!

I get that alot when I drop my donations off at the Ronald McDonald house here in town. They cannot believe that I buy that much stuff on my own. If they only knew it just cost me pennies!!
