Things I have Learned From This Trip:

- I honestly couldn't be bothered making a list to get right over $25 PSP and hoping everything was in stock. Instead, I just took all my coupons I had for the Catalina and pulled out the things that I really wanted to buy or things that were good deals. I knew I was way over my $25. Now actually adding it all up - I could have added one more thing, split it up into 2 transaction and had an extra $10 OYNP. I know this doesn't sound thrifty, but I just couldn't be bothered. Sometimes when we get wrapped up in the Catalina, we forget that a lot of the sales going on with them are actually really good sales in themselves. Like the Breyers. $2.99 and matched with my .60/1 MFC that doubles - $1.79 is a great price for a carton of ice cream - even if catalinas weren't involved.

- I tried to use the Stop & Shop 5% off as a "competitor coupon". They said they couldn't take it. I'm just fine with the fact that my Shaw's doesn't take competitors coupons. I'm getting such a good deal at Shaw's that it really doesn't matter. I did ask the cashier if they take competitors coupons. She said "yes." I gave her the 5%, she tried to ring it in and told me, "Oh, we don't take these kinds." I'm not going to fight over .70 cents (5% of $14).

- I'm happy that I have another cashier that I like! My Shaw's hired a new girl (or maybe I just never saw her - but she seems new). I'll call her "Pretty Girl Cashier." She's really pretty, but she's also very bright. I've had her a few times - the thing I like most about her is that if the coupons don't scan in the traditional way, she doesn't get all mad or flip out - she just grabs that handheld scanner and scans them that way.

Wow, awesome deal. I live in the Midwest so we don't have a Shaws around here but I love reading about others savings. Great Job!

Thanks for your comment Sara! Sometimes the best way to learn is through example. Shaw's is partnered with Albertson's - so I'm not sure if their deals are similar. We had Albertson's in WA so not sure if you have them where you are.
