Thanks to a blog reader, Chasity, I found an email in my mountain of 40,000 emails from Ebates - they will credit me my $23.10 balance from Cashbaq with my next purchase through Ebates that is $25+!
So if you were a Cashbaq user and had a balance when they went under, check your email and spam folder for an email from Ebates - you might get all your money back (that is, if you need to make an internet purchase that's more than $25!).
Many thanks to Ebates and Chasity!

Shaw's - $300+ becomes $150
I did a pretty big trip at Shaw's yesterday. I saved just over 50% with coupons and Shaw's savings - but I did buy a lot of stuff for the husband that wasn't on sale. Again - can't argue with the bread winner when he wants bologna, coffee cakes and chocolate covered donuts.... Plus - it's really hard to save 50%+ when you throw in produce and meat. Seriously - that's the reality.
Anyways - I used over $60 in coupons yesterday. I got them all from Boston area newspapers, All You and other random places. I'm too lazy to print out coupons. Here are some of the "hot" finds I got using my coupons. These sale prices are good through Thursday. The thing that really sucks about Shaw's is that they don't put all of their sales in their flyer - so you have to go kind of armed with your coupons and see what is out there.
For Starters - I had a $9/$90 coupon that Shaw's mailed me.
1.7 lbs Hormel Pork Tenderloin - Reg. $11.49. Sale $9.99. There were peelies on some for $3.00 off (exp. date is 5/29 - so not sure why the peelies). Used $1/1 MFC from paper. $5.99 for that delicious pork tenderloin.
2 1-lbs rolls of Shaw's Ground Beef 80/20 - $3.89 ea. $2/2 Shaw's Coupon. $2.89 each - threw them in the freezer. The husband digs chili and this will come in handy (even though it's super fatty - yuck).
2 Cains Relish - Reg. $1.83. Sale .99. Had 2 .55/1 Coupons which doubled to $1.10 off. MADE .11 cents with each of these!
1 Mt. Olive Pickles - Reg. $2.65. Sale $1.99. Used $1/1 MFC to make this .99.
2 Franks Red Sauces - Reg. $1.39. Sale $1.19. Used $1/2 to make these .69 cents each.
2 French's Worchester Sauces - Reg. $1.99. Sale $1.59. Used 2 $1/1 MFCs to make these .59 cents each.
2 Taco Bell Salsas - Reg. $2.59. On Clearance for $1.29. Used $1/2 TB Product MFC to make these .79 cents each.

Ronzoni Garden Delight Pasta - Reg. $1.89. Sale $1.00. Used $1/1 MFC, which made this FREE!
2 Emerald Breakfast To Go's - Reg. $3.69. Sale $1.99. Used 2 $1/1 MFCs. .99 cents each!
2 Edy's Milk Shakes - Reg. $1.79. Sale $1.25. Used $1/2 MFC. .75 cents ea (I love trying new crap like this!)
Pint of Garelick Half & Half. - $1.99. Used .55/1 MFC that Doubled. .90 cents for a pint of Half & Half.
20 Yoplait Yogurts - Reg. .79 cents ea. Sale .50 cents ea. Used 2 $1/10 MFCs. .40 cents each. (Earned $2 off my next purchase coupon with this) - so kind of like .30 cents each.
Sponge Bob Bandaids - Reg. $3.49. Sale $2.49. Used $1.50/1 Shaw's Coupon. .99 cents.

1 bathroom cleaner - Reg. $2.50, Sale $1.99
Pre-Sale Price - $16.32
Post Sale & Coupon Price - $8.10
Lastly, there were a lot of hair products (scrunchi's, bands, clips, etc.) that were 70% off. This sale is good until 9/25 - so they are probably just trying to liquidate some of their selection. This was at the Weymouth Shaw's - not sure if other Shaw's are participating.
Happy Shaw'sing this week!

Basket - FREE! From my attic. Probably would have dropped at least $8 on a basket if I needed to buy one. A secret to scoring cheap baskets (if you are a gift basket person) is to hit up garage sales. Most of them have a plethora of baskets ready to be scooped up. This particular basket I used was my Grandmother's. She passed away last March and I "inheritted" a lot of her worldly posessions. She was very fond of my two sons - being as they were her only great-grandchildren. As cheezy as it may sound, I think she would like to know that one of her "treasures" is being used for something of this nature.
Secrets to Savings:
- The Dollar Tree is my go-to store for greeting cards. At .50 cents each, every day, how can you go wrong? They aren't even really all that cheezy - well okay, some are - but there are some great ones there too. Plus, a lot of people just throw greeting cards away. It's also a great place if you need a few quick balloons.
- I am not a huge Walmart fan. Call me snobby, call me ignorant, but whatever - the Walmarts around me are kind of gross and the lines are always long. But with two days notice of getting this gift basket put together - it was my one stop shop for all things baby.
- Bath & Body Works gives out some great coupons. I got a coupon for a Free Product in the mail (up to $5) about a month ago. So I went in about 2 weeks ago to get my free bottle of body wash. The lady who cashed me out (a big fat $0!) gave me this awesome coupon that I got today. 1 Free Signature Product (up to $12) with any $10 or more purchase. HELLO! If you buy the bare minimum, that is a savings of over 50%! Craziness I tell you! I scored the same coupon today with my purchase. I'm going to be one hot smelling babe this summer!
- I wrote about my $10 JCP coupon 2 weeks ago. Yeah, my intentions were to buy myself some new hand towels or a soap dish for practically nothing - but I think buying two little outfits for a wee little one is a better investment. Call me a softy. I'm not going to argue dropping $1.98 on two little summer outfits. Plus - I usually hate baby clothes with words on them - but I couldn't pass up the "Daddy Is My Hero" outfit.
- My total worth value is taking all the pre-sale prices and the proposed $8 I would have spent on a basket had I not "recycled" one from my collection. I think it's actually over $100 if you take into account my savings on the ballon and greeting card purchased at the Dollar Tree vs. CVS or another chain store. Greeting cards are outrageous these days!
So again - think you can be creative with a "free" $50 to "do something good with?" Go to THIS BLOG POST to post a comment on how YOU would "Pay It Forward" with $50.
$212 becomes $122 at Stop & Shop
Sure it's not great, but still knocked off $90 off my trip. Hard to get your total down to next to nothing when you include meats & produce in the mix. Here are some of my coupon finds though:

Pyrex 13X9 glass dish with lid - Reg. $12.99, Sale $6.49
Notable tips from this trip:
- It seemed that all Pyrex glassware was 50% off! It's getting discontinued at the Hingham Stop & Shop. I actually broke my 13X9 dish about 2 weeks ago so this was a great find for me. Really nice Corningware was also 50% off.
- The Bic razors are a great deal - they are 20% off and the $3/1 coupon was just in this past week's insert.
- My husband really digs deli meat and "fancy" rolls for lunch. These cost me about $17. Since he is the bread winner, I let him eat what he wants on occassion. Deli meat is way too expensive at the grocery stores - but I didn't feel like trucking it over to BJ's to save a few bucks.
- Scored a milk & cereal container for 50% off ($2.49). My husband brings breakfast to work every day so this is a nice handy dandy contraption for him. A lot of 50% off food storage items in the Paper Towel isle.
- Scored .40 cents off my order for using reusable bags. I'm getting really good at actually remembering them at every trip. Mostly because I don't like dealing with plastic bags - we probably have over 1,000 of them stored at my house. They make good bathroom garbage bags & kitty litter waste bags though.
- OH! Bought a Jimmy Fund ticket. It was not a winner - I got $2 off Hertz Flea Treatment or something like that. It's like the one product I have absolutely no use for. At least the money goes to a good cause.
- Also - I didn't use a single coupon printed from the internet. I guess I'm kind of old school or am too lazy to print them out at times - but I find a ton of great coupons in the paper, in All You and on products themselves. I pay $13 a month to get the Boston Globe delivered to me on Sundays - and I think it's well worth it. Plus, I really dig reading the Boston Globe Magazine. It makes me feel all sophisticated and stuff to say that.

Giveaway: $50 Gift Card for Pampers Miracle Missions
I'm not usually a real lovey-dovey person - but it's kind of nice to do nice and unexpected things for unsuspecting people. So I'm very grateful to Pampers. They gave me a $50 American Express Gift Card to do a "random act of kindness to celebrate a little miracle within my community" as part of their Miracle Missions campaign. The options were endless - buying diapers for a family who could use them, use the money to prepare meals for a family, or even use the money to host a larger fundraiser for a family. And those are just 3 examples of what I could do.
I did go back and forth about a couple different ideas I brainstormed to use to this $50 to benefit an unsuspecting family or group. For those who do not know, my husband is in the National Guard. He's currently in a training program and will be for the next year and a half. However, the unit that he'll be assigned to once this long training is over, just deployed about a month ago. They'll be in Afghanistan for about a year and will come back shortly before my husband transfers to this unit.
Being as it's the season of Mother's Day, I called the unit to see if there are any new mothers or soon-to-be new mothers of husbands that are deployed. Low and behold - a wife just had a baby a month ago! I don't have all the details of whether or not her husband was still here to be with her when her son was born, but can you imagine being a first time mother and having your husband ship out for a year? So many men in this country are blessed with paternity leave, or even a few weeks vacation after their wives have babies. Some men, are not. Some of us (yes, me included!) get frustrated or upset when our husbands are running late from work because our babies/children wore us out all day - but imagine not having your husband come home for an entire year? I personally, probably would have gone nuts if my husband was gone for the entire first year of my first born's life.
Being a prior military member myself and having a husband in the National Guard - I understand a little how frustrating military life can be for new moms. So after much thought - I decided that I'm going to be making up a gift basket for this new mom for Mother's Day with my $50 from Pampers. I can't think of many other mothers who deserve this as much as this lady. Sure, it doesn't make the sadness of her husband missing her first Mother's Day as a mom go away, but maybe it will put a little smile on her face to know that a complete stranger thought of her and said "Thank you for your dedication to our country - Happy Mother's Day!". She may not be in the Army herself, but she has to make sacrifices that a lot of us never do.
Everyone can easily participate in a small way by logging on to Pampers Facebook page by hitting ‘like’ and then going to the Miracle Missions tab and committing to Mission 1 by clicking “I Want To Pledge.” Once more than 2,500 people pledge, Pampers will respond by giving baby showers to expectant mothers nationwide just in time for Mother’s Day. As a side note, anyone who pledges is automatically entered to win a year’s supply worth of Pampers diapers and wipes (and that can definitely help someone in a big way!).
***BONUS*** Pampers will give one of my lucky readers a $50 American Express gift card to do whatever you see fit to benefit your community. Again, it can be as simple as buying $50 worth of groceries to donate to your food bank or it can be as creative as your imagination takes you. It can benefit a single person or a group. Again - there are no limits of how to spread your generosity.
To enter this giveaway, simply leave a comment about how you would spend your $50 to "pay-it-forward" or deliver your random act of kindness. This giveaway closes at Midnight EST on Thursday May 12th and I will pick a winner on Friday May 13. I will delete any comments that appear to be spam or do not state how you would use the $50. If your Blogger profile does not contain your email address, please leave it in the comment as well so I can contact you if you are the winner. One entry per person. Duplicate comments will be deleted.
Many thanks to Pampers for this awesome Miracles Missions campaign! For more information about this campaign, you can watch their video here below (it's only a minute - and you'll be so happy you did!):

Canvas People - Free 8X10 Print
This is actually a post for my girl Christine (and anyone else who may be interested). Canvas People is running a promo now for a free 8X10 print. You can upgrade to an 11X14 for $6.95 more. It sounds like a great deal - and it really is, but shipping will run you $14.95. Pretty cheap and a nice Mother's Day gift though - if you actually have enough time to get it before Mother's Day. I don't know. You probably have to pay extra for that.
Well anyways, I did buy this. I used my Ebay sellings to fund it. I dig sites that let you use PayPal to pay and Canvas People is one of them. You can take advantage of this offer by clicking HERE.
Thanks Canvas People!

Free Comic Book Day - Saturday May 7th!
Hey! Do you have a kid (or husband) who is a nerd or who likes superheros? I do (I won't divulge which one). Well I'm super excited about this Freebie - apparently, the first Saturday of May every year is "Free Comic Book Day". Participating comic book stores across the country will give you a free comic book just for walking in the door. I'm not sure what the rules are - obviously it's probably nothing that is worth anything - but my kids don't care. I will be there! More information can be found at Boston Central. I think you might have to be a member to see the info - I don't know. I'm a member because I think the site is one of the best ones out there for advertising events. Highly recommend them!
Many thanks to Boston Central for having it in their weekly email update - which I read every week. The following are participating Massachusetts stores. You many want to call ahead to see if they are in deed participating - they were just pulled off of this website: http://www.book-stores-guide.com/index.html. and might not actually be participating in the promo. Oh - and if you aren't in Massachusetts - go to that link right there (up there...in the previous sentence) and just find your state.
